PAGAN TRAILS is based in Chagford in the north-eastern corner of the Moor, where mythical, mystical Dartmoor meets the lush valleys of the Upper Teign and Bovey Rivers.

PAGAN TRAILS because the two distances (Midwinter Marathon & Half Marathon) visit many of the stone circles and pagan sites of this part of north Dartmoor, steeped in ancient history and legends.

The Marathon is a long one of over 28 miles and the Half Marathon is well over 14.. but that’s OuterEdge. That’s how we like it!

The PAGAN TRAILS are no walk in the park, the Marathon has over 1500m of ascent and the Half Marathon has almost 700m. Set in midwinter.. it is a significant test.

The PAGAN TRAILS are two challenging routes in wintry Dartmoor conditions. *Trackers are employed for the Marathon distance.. so we can keep an eye on you!

The start and finish for both races will be at the Chagford Cricket and Football Club – Event HQ.

The MARATHON will start at 8:30am, while the Half Marathon will start at 11:00am. We will be starting the Marathon early to maximise daylight hours.

Time Limits :

8 hours for the Marathon

4.5 hours for the Half Marathon.

Cut-offs will be strictly enforced.

There will be Four Full Aid Stations for the Marathon and Two for the Half Marathon. They will be outdoor Aid stations due to the locations.

Here’s the two routes:
